CHEDAR’S CASE-BASED APPROACH

Digital Twins in Action

CHEDAR has emerged from a solid foundation of studies, expertise and research trajectories developed within the partner institutions. The project aims to develop and test integrated approaches across a range of case studies differentiated by typology, scale of intervention and risk classification, including environmental, structural and anthropogenic factors.

While the platform is expected to expand progressively, it currently features two active case studies involving UNIFI and CNR.

The first is the creation of an Urban Digital Twin (UDT) of Florence’s historic city centre, with a particular focus on the area crossed by the Arno River.

The second is the development of a Heritage Digital Twin (HDT) of the Grotto of Animals at the Medici Villa of Castello, aimed at monitoring and enhancement.

These are accompanied by a completed case study, which was the original catalyst for the project: the digital reproduction and physical replica of Michelangelo’s David, which was created for the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
